Postcolonial Museology, Appropriate Capacity Building and Regional Engagement

It was an intensive Professional Development Program in partnership with ICOM Vietnam, Vietnam Ministry of Culture and Tourism, ICOM MINOM, and the International Institute for the Inclusive Museum with the support of the ICOM Asia Pacific Alliance. This was a remarkable opportunity to join with Asia Pacific colleagues, Inclusive Museum and Vietnam colleagues to address pressing issues in sustainability, professional development, appropriate museology and capacity building.

• delegates arrival – optional site visits

• full day conference working sessions (University of West Indies)
• evening: a welcome dinner and cultural performance

Thursday 15 October:
• full day study visit tour with lunch included (Olympic Museum, Foursquare Rum Distillery and Folk Museum, Sunbury Plantation House, scenic road way back)
• evening: free time / optional participation in organised event

Friday 16 October
• full day conference working sessions (Barbados Museum and Historical Society)
