International Museum Day is an annual celebration of the role of museums as institutions in the service of society. This years’ theme paints a vision of museums as audience-centered hubs, and local focal points balancing their mission as primary collecting institutions and reinventing themselves to stay relevant.

Museums have evolved over decades from serving as custodians of heritage bound institutions to edutainment centers, a focus on serving a diverse audience with diverse demands and needs. How are Museums responding to this dynamic change while maintaining their primary mission, heritage and meeting demands of both socio-economic environment that surrounds them? What are the concerns that museums address both at a global and local level and how?

In conjunction with International Museum Day (IMD) 2019, Museum Roundtable and ICOM Singapore would like to invite you to attend a conversation session on the IMD theme “Museums as Cultural Hubs: The Future of Tradition”.

Join practitioners, and policymakers as they explore, investigate and question the theme and its potential for museums, particularly in Singapore.

Uma Parameswer (Athina Consulting), ICOM-ICTOP Board member is one among invited panelists.

ICOM-ICTOP is proud promotional partner of the event.
